Google has introduced a new feature called Google’s Magic Editor, powered by generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), that allows users to make significant edits to their photos without the need for professional tools. This exciting feature was unveiled at the Google I/O 2023 event.
With the Magic Editor, Google showcased impressive examples of its capabilities.
In one instance, the feature effortlessly moves a person in a photo to the side, erases unwanted individuals in the background, and enhances the sky’s color to a more captivating blue.
Another demonstration showcases how Google’s Magic Editor can reposition a child on a bench, generating new parts of the bench and balloons to fill in the surrounding space, all while intensifying the vibrancy of the sky.

Although Google has been leveraging AI for photo organization and editing since the launch of Google Photos in 2015, the Magic Editor takes things to the next level by providing users with more detailed editing options and greater creative control.
As for its availability, Google has mentioned that it will be released “later this year.” However, early access will be limited to select Pixel phones, and the feature is still a work in progress. Google acknowledges that while this experimental technology presents exciting editing possibilities, there may be instances where the results may not align exactly with what users envisioned. Therefore, user feedback will be crucial in refining and improving the Magic Editor over time, ensuring users can achieve the best possible edits.
Stay tuned for more updates on Google’s Magic Editor as it evolves and refines its capabilities. It’s an exciting development that showcases the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in revolutionizing photo editing and enhancing the overall user experience.
